Even though choosing to have your baby at home may feel like an obvious choice to you, it’s still an uncommon one. Finding support both in person and online can be really helpful. Having people to share your ups and downs with, rant to, celebrate with and who understand can be invaluable.
Our list of homebirth support groups is a work in progress so please let us know if your group isn’t here and we will add it right away. Visiting a homebirth group doesn’t commit you to anything but can be helpful in your decision making process. Groups often involve birth workers such as doulas, antenatal teachers and midwives who are happy to field your questions. Birth partners are welcome and children often are too. It’s also a wonderful opportunity to hear people’s birth stories and personal experience of home birth in your local area.
Home Birthers and Hopefuls Facebook page is a lively discussion facility if you are unable to attend a group in person.
